DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF ALASKA? YES!
Alaska does not pre-approve continuing education programs or sponsors and they DO NOT have sponsorship agreements. They will accept courses from NASBA-QAS sponsors. PES is a registered sponsor with NASBA-QAS.
LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:
- 80 hours of acceptable CPE every 2 years.
- Minimum of 20 hours per year.
- Ethics Requirement: 4 hours of ethics CPE every 2 year renewal period. PES course 4510: Ethics and Professional Conduct for Alaska CPAs or any of our general ethics courses can be used to fulfill this requirement.
LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:
- Expires every two years on 12/31 - odd years.
CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:
- CPE must be completed by 12/31 of expiration year.
SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:
Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time. Alaska recognizes the same credit measurement.
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%
ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:
Alaska state regulation reads: "in order to be approved by the board, a subject must contribute directly to the professional competence of a person licensed to practice as a CPA."
NASBA FIELD OF STUDY SYNOPSIS: Alaska does not specify "fields of study"; therefore all the NASBA fields of study noted on PES certificates of completion should be able to be reported as CPE for license renewal.
